The Reflex Photonics Light on Board® solution provides the microchip with lower-power, higher density and longer distance data interconnects than existing 10-Gbps electrical solutions. It can add up to 200 optical channels and 2 Terabits/sec of additional i/o bandwidth without changing the microchip or the printed circuit board. It does this by targeting the, as-yet, unused areas of the microchip IC package thus providing a seamless and unobtrusive, modular addition. All IC packaging standards such as JEDEC microelectronic packaging compatibility are met with the Light on Board® technology and optical requirements are combined using IEEE/T11, OIF, InfiniBand and/or Optical-Ethernet specifications.

The Light on Board® technology can be applied to storage and server environments, switches and routers, computing and graphics processing. Anywhere that data rates are increasing and port-densities and i/o pin counts are becoming too difficult to handle with standard packaging solutions – Light on Board® is the solution. Solutions such as the Optically Enable ASIC package and daughter card, to the completely integrated HyperDense Optical ASIC package can bring another level to the interconnect bottlenecks faced by copper traces and printed circuit board technology.

The Reflex InterBOARD® optical module solution incorporates the Light on Board® optical technology into a whole family of industry standard MSA (multi-source agreement) form-factors. Bandwidths between systems are surpassing 100 Gigabits/sec per port for Ethernet/Data switches that handle ever growing demands for live video streaming, VoIP, and other data intensive applications. Parallel optical solutions are now the only way to move this immense amount of data between systems and racks while keeping infrastructure costs low while keeping performance high. By taking full advantage of the Reflex Photonics product offerings, you can obtain the interconnect capacity that you need.

For modular optical solutions, the Reflex Photonics line of InterBOARD® parallel optical transceivers include; SNAP12 BoardEdge modules at 40G, QSFP+ transceiver as well as active optical cables, and introducing our new line CFP standard modules – with both 100GE, 40GE ports and QSFP-compatible ports.

With the LightABLE™ product line of Reflex Photonics, any custom or proprietary design that has space constraints, speed or density issues can be accommodated with small, surface-mount optical engines that have industry standard optical interfaces. Applications such as optical USB 3.0™ and optical extenders for PCI Express, HyperTransport, and RapidIO™ buses are easily handled. Optical SATA connections for next-gen hard-drive interfaces as well as consumer applications for video and display technologies such as HDMI and DVI interconnects.

Stand-alone LightABLE™ optical engines come in various formats, from the 120G Surface Mount LightABLE™ & Pluggable LightABLE™ optical engine to the 4+4 40G LightABLE™ engine, including other variations of channel count and data rate.
